- - Does your organization use contingent workers to enhance your existing team of employees and access hot skills that are becoming increasingly more difficult to find?  If you answered yes, then you will understand just how complex it can be to manage a non-employee workforce program. To achieve true ROI and optimize the processes related to managing contingent workforce and staffing vendors, it’s crucial that your business is aware of today’s top contingent trends. ## What trends can your business expect to see over the next year? We all know the benefits that businesses can realize from making use of a contingent workforce, such as access to hot skills, increased flexibility, the ability to scale their workforce up and down as required, but companies must manage this workforce correctly for true ROI.  This had previously been difficult for companies with smaller contingent workforce budgets, with management and tech solutions typically only created for enterprise organizations with high contingent workforce spend.  This has changed, with businesses with smaller contingent workforce budgets now having access to [vendor management systems (VMS)](https://www.conexisvmssoftware.com/what-is-a-vendor-management-system-vms), such as Conexis VMS, that are specifically designed for companies with lower spend.  Yet this is just one of the trends that will affect companies managing contingent workers in 2021.  1. The accelerating use of the contingent workforce, driven by the COVID--19 economy changes. 2. The increased reliance on vendors and staffing agencies as the contingent workforce becomes more important. 3. The ongoing conflict of who manages the contingent workforce program - HR or procurement? 4. Artificial intelligence to be used in the hiring process, but do companies with smaller contingent spend really need or use these features? 5. The growing automation and management options, including [Conexis VMS](https://conexis.io/how-it-works/), for organizations with smaller non-employee workforce budgets. ## The Conexis VMS Difference Conexis VMS is an [award-winning](https://www.conexisvmssoftware.com/conexis-vms-awards-and-recognition) vendor management system built for organizations that want the power of enterprise software without the complexity or cost.
